About us
Justice and Care is an international team of human rights professionals supporting victims of trafficking and other forms of injustice and supporting governments in their efforts to prevent these crimes, protect the victims and prosecute those who exploit them.
We work with victims of trafficking, slavery and child abuse within countries and across borders.
We are a team of 49 professionals – including investigators, social workers, counsellors, lawyers and administrators - many of whom have considerable experience working on behalf of those trafficked in South Asia. We now have three centres in India as well as some staff based in the UK and the Netherlands.
Justice and Care, Project of VOP charitable society registration no F16430 (B), India. Justice and Care is also a registered Charity no 1133829 in England and Wales, United Kingdom.
The principles that guide the way we work:
Professionalism
Recognising that people who have been subject to abuse beyond our imagination deserve the absolute best, we work with very experienced and skilled staff and partners.
International vision
Because trafficking doesn’t stop at borders, our approach to fighting trafficking has to be international. This is why we partner with government agencies and NGOs in different countries to work together for the protection of the victims.
Victim Centric
The interests of a specific child or woman should be central in all we do with and for them.
Multidisciplinary Approach
We believe in bringing together many different disciplines that work together in the interest of a victim of trafficking.
Partnerships
We believe that strong partnerships with law enforcement, community organisations and NGOs will result in better support for victims of trafficking.
Holistic
From prevention of trafficking till the moment we seek to support women and children in every aspect of life. Someone isn’t ‘rescued’ unless the place and life we help them create is one of healing and freedom in every way.
Innovation
Strategies to prevent trafficking have to change continually as the crime itself keeps changing. One example of this is our missing person’s program where we trace a woman or child before he or she is sold.
Long term
Because a victim of trafficking rebuilding his or her life has a huge task, we promise that we will be available to each individual as long as necessary – be it 1, 2, 5, 10 or 20 years.
Culturally relevant
We work with local people with a global vision. Local expertise and leadership in each of the places we work will result in the best possible support for victims of injustice. In addition we believe the local context victims come from is a rich store of ways to find healing.
